Why Integrative Care?
- Understand the rationale with utilizing BHC model of care within primary care in screening and treating substance use disordered patients;
- Be able to define the key components of the structural, clinical, and financial integration in addressing substance abuse/dependent patients seen in primary care; and
- Learn how to develop and implement an SBIRT module of care within primary care.
Presenter: Dr. Bill McFeature received his Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology and possesses 16 years of specialized training in primary care and behavioral health integration . He is currently the Director of Integrative Behavioral Healthcare Services for Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Inc. since 2005. Dr. McFeature is also a graduate faculty member for Radford University instrumental in the inception of RU’s Integrative Care for Research and Practice and development of a PCBHI certificate program. He is currently a PCBHI consultant for both NACHC and National Council. Dr. McFeature was the Project Director for the 2009 SAMHSA-HRSA SBIRT Study which trained 3rdyear Medical Residency students , Primary Care Practitioners, and Behavioral Health Consultants employed within six community health centers. Also recently published a preliminary integrative care study conducted in a FQHC system in the Journal of Health Disparities for Research and Practice.
